2018 Gargoyle Brass Concert

2018 Gargoyle Brass Concert

The Chicago Gargoyle Brass will return to Good Shepherd in concert on Saturday, October 27 at 7:00pm (Madison Campus) after making their debut appearance last year. This year’s program, entitled “Imaginary Journeys,” features world premieres of new works and arrangements for brass quintet and organ commissioned by the ensemble.

Experience “Imaginary Journeys”

Imaginary Journeys, written for the ensemble by Chicago-area composer Mark Lathan, is a three-movement work that take the listener on a rocket-powered interstellar adventure, inspired by recent astronomical discoveries. Other highlights include movements from Bach’s Reformation cantata, Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott, BWV 80, an arrangement of Igor Stravinsky’s ever-popular Suite from  The Firebird, and others.

Reformation Sunday Worship Accompaniment

The group will also enhance worship on Reformation Sunday (Madison Campus). A freewill offering will be collected benefiting Good Shepherd’s Music Ministry.
