Worshipping Together Online

As we begin to live-out being church and worshiping together in Phase 2 of our reopening strategy, worship remains at the heart of all we do; yes, even apart – yet connected in new ways.

Our full liturgy Sunday services, which include at home communion, will continue to be live-streamed at both 9:00 and 10:30am on Facebook and YouTube as will our 30-minute midweek Wednesday worship service at 7:00pm.

Animal Blessings & Praying for Saints

On Wednesday, October 7 we will celebrate our annual Blessing of the Animals service, and on Wednesday, October 28 we will pray for the saints of Good Shepherd and those in our community who are experiencing loss.

Outdoor Worship in October

New to October: we will hold two small, socially distanced outdoor worship services on October 11 and 18 at 10:30am in the parking lot at our Verona Campus. These brief “Word and Prayer” services will include a sermon, song and prayer. Registration and masks will be required for these services. Please bring your own seating as chairs will not be provided.  (Registration links at the bottom of this email)

As with all in-person gatherings, if you are ill or have been in close contact with someone known to have tested positive, you should love your neighbor and refrain from attending. As we begin exploring in-person opportunities, we will be following safety guidelines from our Covid-19 task force, and above all, we respect your own level of comfortability during this time.

Worship in All Seasons

Worship is an invitation by God to us, his people, to enter into a conversation with a loving and holy God. We worship God in all seasons – liturgically and communally – and will continue to shape online worship for feast days such as Reformation, All Saints, and Thanksgiving.

We are here for you…we love you…and we look forward to worshipping with you however you choose in the weeks to come.

Sincerely,

Pr. Chris Enstad

A Pastoral Greeting from Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd is With You

We give thanks for the ways we have experienced God’s presence in and among us during the past several months of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are especially grateful for this ever-growing list of God’s goodness at Good Shepherd.

While this fall will look and feel different, we are excited to keep growing together, and supporting one another. We miss being with our church family in-person and look forward to the ways that the Spirit will move us to connect and care for one another.

Our staff, board and volunteers are listening, discerning and planning in order to make wise decisions about our life together at Good Shepherd. We are with you on this journey.

Thank you for your continued prayers and for joining us in worship—together—wherever we are!

Thanks be to God!

Sincerely,

Pr. Chris Enstad

“A Time for Burning” | Documentary Screening & Discussion Event

Continuing the Conversation

On Monday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. we will be sharing a special live-stream of the academy-award nominated documentary “A Time for Burning” to watch together as a congregation. Following the broadcast, we will share a link to a Zoom video chat hosted by Good Shepherd members for further large and small group discussions.

About the Film

In 1966, Lutheran Film Associates commissioned a documentary film to capture the story of Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE as the pastor of the congregation begins efforts to reach out African American Lutherans in their community. Over 50 years later, the difficult conversations featured in this film echo within our communities and churches today.
