DESCRIPTION:Who’s Ready for a Cook-Off? \nThe Chili Cook-off and Pie Auction is back! Friday March 15 from 6 – 8 p.m. at our Verona Campus. It is a family friendly night of intergenerational fun! A great place to meet or invite a friend. \nThis beloved event raises money for our HS youth summer travels. This summer they will be attending the ELCA Youth Gathering in New Orleans from July 15 – 21. . This is an opportunity for our youth to worship\, serve\, play\, and stretch their Spirits alongside 20\,000 other young Lutherans from around the world.  Good Shepherd has a long history of supporting our youth through experiences of travel and pilgrimage and we look forward to taking a big crew down to the Bayou this summer. \nCome and Dine.\nYour ticket gets you in the door to enjoy pie and custard\, homemade cornbread\, coffee and lemonade\, and all the chili fixins. Individual cups of chili are pay-what -you-like throughout the night\, enjoy as much as you like! We will mix and mingle\, eat and fellowship from 6:00 – 7:00 before we announce the winners and begin the pie auction! In addition\, throughout the night there is music and face painting for the kids!This is a great place to meet other folks from the congregation and to invite friends who enjoy good food and a fun time. \nBuy Tickets Here https://goodshep.breezechms.com/form/chili2024 \nChili and Pie’s Welcome\nWe are always looking for new chefs to bring their special recipes to the chili competition and give our previous winners a run for their money! Contestants make 30\, one cup servings and are given a table station to decorate as they would like. Judges make their way through the crowd sampling all the chili’s\, before announcing the winners. It’s all in fun and a great place to enjoy the gift of feeding others! \nIn addition\, the Pie Auction welcomes classic and exotic pies made with love and ready to sell! You bring your pie in a plate with your name and number on it or a disposable pan. DESCRIPTION:This week\, the center of the church’s year\, is one of striking contrasts: Jesus rides into Jerusalem surrounded by shouts of glory\, only to be left alone to die on the cross\, abandoned by even his closest friends. Mark’s gospel presents Jesus in his complete human vulnerability: agitated\, grieved\, scared\, forsaken. Though we lament Christ’s suffering and all human suffering\, we also expect God’s salvation: in the wine and bread\, Jesus promises that his death will mark a new covenant with all people. We enter this holy week thirsty for the completion of God’s astonishing work.
