Regardless of if you attended the workshop\, all are welcome to be a part of a month- long book group\, exploring Dr. Moser’s book\, “the ENNEAGRAM of DISCERNMENT”. DESCRIPTION:A graveside committal for Kay Hocker will take place on Saturday\, June 24\, 2023 at Forest Hill Cemetery (1 Speedway Rd) at 11am. Pastor Sheryl Erickson will be presiding. \nObituary\nKay Frances Hocker\, age 84 of Madison\, Wisconsin passed away on Wednesday\, March 15\, 2023\, at Oakwood Village Memory Care surrounded by her family. Kay was born on May 4\, 1938 in Colchester\, IL to Joseph and Susie (Wayland) Powell. She graduated from Colchester High School and worked at the local IGA store where she met Arland R. Hocker\, Jr. They were married on August 26\, 1956. Kay earned her real estate license. She enjoyed selling houses\, playing bridge and home decor. She was a loving mother to her son\, Brad\, her two grandchildren\, Max and Kelsey\, and two great grand puppies\, Kaia and Blair. She is survived by one son\, Bradley (Patricia) Hocker\, of Murrells Inlet\, SC\, two grandchildren; Max Hocker\, of Stevens Point\, WI and Kelsey Hocker\, of Madison\, WI. Also surviving are four brothers; David Powell of Colorado Springs\, CO\, Gary (Tish) Powell of Colchester\, IL\, Danny Powell of Colchester\, IL\, Lyle (Teresa) Powell of Good Hope\, IL\, one sister\, Louella (Phil) Reno of Bushnell\, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers; Charles Powell and Bruce Powell; and two sisters; Barbara Schoonover and Beverly Roberts.

DESCRIPTION:Come join us for an evening of musical fun! \nThe 20 piece All That Jazz Big Band was founded in 1985 by Bruce Johnson as a rehearsal band in his Middleton basement. With every dance or concert\, ATJ proves what its members have learned in rehearsal – there is no better way to experience the Jazz Standards with a featured vocalist than in a live performance! \nAll That Jazz now features two more groups for smaller venues and smaller budgets. All That Jazz Classic Big Band is a 9-10 piece group with vocalist– all the swing with ½ the calories! All That Jazz Combo features 4-5 of our top players in a less formal setting. \nAny of the All That Jazz groups can provide a unique mix of jazz literature. At a typical All That Jazz concert or dance\, you will hear old standards as well as modern interpretations of jazz classics. We also throw in plenty of Latin tunes and ballads\, even polkas\, waltzes and rock to keep people of all ages tapping their toes or out on the dance floor! \nAll That Jazz Big Band is a regular feature at the Madison Art Fair on the Square and Tunes at the Monona Terrace\, plays for the Badger Catholic Swing Dances\, has opened a show for Rockapella\, performed with singer and actor Tom Wopat\, and has presented concerts at the Stoughton Opera House\, Al Ringling Theatre\, and the Monroe Performing Arts Center. All That Jazz gained national exposure on the CBS Early Show in a remote broadcast from the Monona Terrace. They have also performed for many festivals\, concerts in the park series\, weddings\, conventions\, anniversaries\, and other area celebrations over the past 25 years. \nUnder current director Paul Heinecke\, All That Jazz is also dedicated to an outreach program for the “next generation” of Jazz musicians\, and has performed with and for high school and middle school students in Baraboo\, Evansville\, Madison\, Mazomanie\, McFarland\, Mount Horeb\, Reedsburg\, Spring Green\, Verona\, Waunakee\, and WI Dells\, WI.

SUMMARY:Music Monday - Common Chord
DESCRIPTION:Come join us for an evening of musical fun full of community\, faith\, and food! The Holy COW will be on-site to distribute meals and fresh produce on the Madison Campus lawn! \nWith their unique combination of vocal\, instrumental\, songwriting and composing/arranging skills\, Common Chord creates an amazing sonic palette. Their repertoire includes vocal-centric pieces with four-part harmonies\, toe-tapping swingy numbers\, folk and bluegrass-flavored pieces\, bluesy tunes\, acoustic rock/pop songs and more…something for everyone\, with appeal to audiences of all ages. The group focuses on originals from each of three writers in the group plus unique covers from the likes of Tom Waits\, the Beatles\, Robert Johnson\, Paul Simon\, and George Gershwin\, and others. Instruments regularly used in live shows include guitars\, bass\, guitar\, mandolin\, fiddle\, clarinet\, bass clarinet\, cigar box guitar\, hand percussion\, and sometimes cello\, melodica\, and hammered dulcimer. \nCommon Chord was formed originally as a duo in 2015 by singer/songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Michael Bryant and Tracy Jane Comer\, who were members of the former Madison-area trio Sticky Fingers (early to mid-2000s). The two have worked as duo on occasion since then as well\, prior to forming Common Chord. The group quickly grew to five regular performers with the addition of singer/songwriter Bruce Buttel\, vocalist Delores Jenison\, and multi-instrumentalist Faye Bruggink. This powerhouse of combined talents yields a strong creative synergy…the musical whole is much greater than the sum of the parts.
