DESCRIPTION:Help Make Back-to-School Kits for Lutheran World Relief\nEducation is one of the strongest tools a community has for breaking the cycle of poverty. Ensuring that girls attend school\, especially in places where their access is deprioritized\, has even stronger results. Lutheran World Relief School Kits contain essential supplies to help children — and in some cases\, adults — continue learning in the face of serious obstacles. That learning leads to a better life for them\, their families and their communities.\nOn September 7\, which is God’s Hands Our Work Sunday\, we will assemble school supply kits at both campuses after worship. At Madison\, we’ll meet in Peterson Hall. In Verona\, we’ll meet in the fellowship hall on the lower level. Our goal is to assemble 100 kits.\n\nWe will begin collecting school supply donations Sunday\, August 24th-Sunday\, September 7th. You can help by purchasing school supplies\, and dropping them off at the collection bins at both campuses.\n\nDonation Needs\nWe are looking to assemble 100 kits. Here’s a look at what is included in one kit:\n\nFOUR 70-sheet notebooks of wide- or college-ruled paper\, approximately 8” x 10 ½”; no loose leaf paper\nONE 30-centimeter ruler\, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other\nONE pencil sharpener\nONE pair of blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well)\nFIVE unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with a rubber band\nFIVE black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secure together with a rubber band\nONE box of 16 or 24 crayons\nONE 2 ½” eraser\n\n\nIf you’re able to buy all or a portion of the contents of one bag\, we’d be so grateful.\nQuestions? DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, January 17th\, 2024 at 6:30 in Peterson Hall at the Madison campus\, Good Shepherd is hosting a discussion on Judaism and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict with Rabbis Jonathan Biatch and Bonnie Margulis. \nOur guest speakers will provide a quick overview of 4000 years of Jewish history\, focusing on Jewish connection to the land of Israel and the history of persecution in the Diaspora around the world.  Then they will delve in more detail into the history and political realities of the last 100 years\, leading to the creation of the state of Israel and the roots and realities of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict that brought us to today.

DESCRIPTION:The Norma Jean Quilters Group makes quilts to donate to Lutheran World Relief and to send to Pine Ridge. The group makes almost 100 quilts a year! While the tops of the quilts are made from small pieces of donated fabric\, the group needs donated sheets for the backs.
