Ash Wednesday

We begin our forty-day journey toward Easter with a day of fasting and repentance. Marking our foreheads with dust, we acknowledge that we die and return to the earth. At the same time, the dust traces the life-giving cross indelibly marked on our foreheads at baptism. We humbly pray for God to make our hearts clean while we rejoice that “now is the day of salvation.” Returning to our baptismal call, we more intentionally bear the fruits of mercy and justice in the world.

Have a Beautiful, Terrible Lent!
Book Group

As in years past, a group will be gathering at Verona campus on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. during Lent starting February 26.  The book we're going to read together this season is: Have a Beautiful, Terrible Lent which is based off the book Have A Beautiful, Terrible Day by Kate Bowler. Contact Ronda Beggs at rbeggs@gslcwi.com with questions.

LENTEN REFLECTIONS

40 Words for 40 Days

There are many words, phrases and concepts that we may hear often but take for granted what they actually mean. Or, we might know the definitions but perhaps haven’t considered what the words might mean for us.  For each day of Lent, this guide features a word that you might have heard before and provides you with a definition, a place it can be explained within scripture and some additional reflections about what this word could mean in your daily life. New print guides will be available each Sunday in Lent and words will be posted daily on our website and social media. .

LENTEN ACTIVITY

Lenten Activity Calendar

As we enter the season of Lent, we invite families to journey together in faith, reflection, and action. This Lenten Activity Calendar is meant to be a flexible guide. Some activities may happen around the dinner table, others out in your community, and some during quiet moments of prayer or conversation.

Each practice is a simple way to engage Lent together as a family while remembering Jesus’ journey to the cross. Our hope is that this resource helps your family slow down, care for others, and grow in faith together.
