Love, Good Deeds and Encouragement
Feeling supported and encouraged - even across great distancesHebrews 10:24-25: And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as in the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching.
When I think of my experiences at Good Shepherd, I think of this bible verse. I have been involved in many groups throughout this church community, and one thing holds true. The people you encounter in every corner of this congregation welcome you with love, good deeds, and encouragement.
This became evident to me when I started getting more involved with Sunday night programming. I didn’t know anyone at first, except a friend who extended the invitation to worship. But quickly, I became immersed in a community of other youth and adult leaders that helped me grow not only in life, but in my faith as well. This occurred through countless hours of worship at The Deep, several weeks of mission work and camp involvement, and numerous moments of fellowship, where we were able to learn, laugh, and grow together.
Looking back, I would not be the person I am today without Good Shepherd and the people that make up the congregation. Throughout these experiences, I have grown closer to God and have counted on him to help guide me through my life. Recently, I took a new job in a new city. While I was worried, I knew that God would be with me throughout my journey.
Since this time of transition, God has provided an abundance of love and support in my new community, as well as continued encouragement from the Good Shepherd congregation. God helps me remember that although I do not worship regularly in Madison anymore, Good Shepherd will always be my home, and this community will always be my family.
