WELCA Spring Gathering
May 14, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 12:30 pm
Addressing the Crisis of Human Trafficking
Please mark your calendar to attend the spring gathering of the Women of the ELCA on Saturday, May 14, at our Madison Campus. Registration with light refreshments will begin at 8:30 a.m. The morning program will begin at 9:00 a.m. We will have a speaker from Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin present a program titled: “Addressing the Crisis of Human Trafficking.” Human trafficking is big business for organized crime and for local traffickers. The average age for recruitment into the commercial sex industry is about 13. People experiencing hunger and homelessness and/or who have a history of trauma are particularly vulnerable. Learn about ways people are coerced, resources to discuss anti-sex trafficking with youth and adults, and advocacy for public policies. We will end the morning with a salad luncheon at noon. Please bring a salad to pass. A free will offering will be collected with one-half to Women of the ELCA, and one-half to Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin.
