Pastor Joe Brosious heads to VA Aphasia Program
Attending a special program in Pittsburgh for the month of MayPictured: Good Shepherd staff members gather to pray for Pastor Joe before he departs for Pittsburgh
A Recent Update on Joe’s Next Steps from Lynn Brosious:
This adventure has been in process for the past 6 months. Joe qualified for VA health care after our health insurance carrier changed. We were introduced to the Pirate Aphasia Program in Pittsburgh on day 1 of VA speech therapy. It is another intensive Aphasia program with a great reputation and it’s FREE! Housing, therapy, and even some meals are covered. Our intention was to go this summer, but the opening that best fits Joe and guaranteed him a spot turned out to be in May. Yes, that means we leave in five days for Pittsburgh. Joe is completely ready to go. I have spent the last 4 days ironing out every detail to leave the boys, our dog, and my 21 first graders for a week to get Joe settled in. I will then return for a week and then go back to Pittsburgh for a week and then possibly take the boys to PA to bring Joe home on Memorial Day weekend. Somehow it all fell into place. Well, actually it all “fell” into place because I have become very comfortable asking for help and am surrounded by amazing people! I have dog helpers, kid helpers, substitute teachers, coaches, neighbors… this adventure is definitely taking a village!
