Refugee Families Arriving in Madison Soon
Learn how you can help by attending a collection event on April 15All Hands on Deck to Welcome New Families to the Area
The Refugee Ministry Team is likely to be very busy in the upcoming weeks. With as many as six refugee families arriving in Madison in just the next three weeks, JSS-Madison is asking that we contribute support for furnishing apartments and greeting families as soon as possible. Three of the families we are being asked to support are Syrian and Iranian and are expected to arrive beginning on April 17th.
With incredible support from the congregation and others, we are close to having collected donations sufficient to completely furnish three apartments for these new arrivals. We have planned a final Donation Collection Event for Saturday morning, April 15th, with the hope of gathering and organizing all the furnishings necessary for the apartments. We will be set up in the parking lot of the Madison Campus from 10:00 until noon with trucks and trailers to pickup and deliver items. Holy Cow and youth will be there to offer help and encouragement.
Please consider helping with the ministry by donating needed items, helping move furnishings from storage to the apartments, volunteering to prepare the apartments, and donating funds. It’s all hands on deck to wash bedding, organize the apartment, stock the pantry, make meals… The list goes on. Check out our updated SignUpGenius links for both volunteer and donation signups or contact Ross Lyman ([email protected]) or any Team member.
