Experience “The Chosen” with Good Shepherd this Lent

Multiple Opportunities In-Person and Online to Watch and Discuss in Community

An 8-Part Series Exploring the Story of Jesus in a New Way

This Lent we're going to gather around the stories of the Gospel in a new way - creating opportunities to encounter and discuss the story of Jesus with the Good Shepherd community. The Chosen is a multi-season television show that takes a deep look at Jesus and the lives of those he encountered as he began his ministry. This series presents the stories with nuance, depth and a focus on historical accuracy.

Multiple Ways to Watch, Gather and Discuss

  • Tuesday Nights | In-Person with Meal at Madison Campus
Starting on Tuesday, February 28 we will gather each Tuesday night in Peterson Hall at the Madison Campus to watch an episode, share a simple meal and engage in large and small group discussion about the episode.
The evenings will start with a free community meal at 5:30 p.m. with the episode playing as people eat together. Following the episode, there will be conversations around each table and as a large group.
  • Wednesday Nights | Amped Confirmation Parents Discussion at Verona Campus

  • Anytime | On Your Own or With Existing Groups
Starting on Ash Wednesday, February 22, we will make a season-long study guide available so that individuals and groups can engage with all eight episodes.

  • "It presents Jesus and his disciples as real, vaguely neurotic people, busting free of the stained-glass images that have long enshrined them. They bicker and fall in love. They struggle with insecurities and jealousies. A lot of them are just plain rude to one another."

  • "The show includes complex relationships, suspense, political intrigue, and charged emotional moments."
