Luther Saw Something True | Pastor Ben Sheets | October 25, 2026
On Reformation Sunday, we reflected on why Luther’s story still matters to us today. It is not simply because of history or tradition, but because Luther noticed something true and beautiful about God that changed the world: we do not need to be afraid anymore.Like Luther, we know what it is to strive and struggle, to exhaust ourselves trying to prove we are worthy of love. And like Luther, we are drawn back to the same promise that he held onto for dear life. Jesus says, “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.” That promise transcends time and place, and it is meant for you. God comes near to us in bread broken, in water poured, in words of grace proclaimed, in hands held at bedsides, in food given to the hungry. We are being reformed by the Spirit, freed from sin and fear, and sent out to love and serve the world.
