Becca Mortensen named Director of Youth and Family Life at Good Shepherd
Becca Mortensen has accepted Good Shepherd’s call to serve as Director of Youth and Family Life. Mortensen will start Tuesday, September 4th.
For the past two years, Mortensen has served as the Program Coordinator at Crossways Camping Ministries, which manages Pine Lake Camp and other camps in Wisconsin. Mortensen will work closely with Sarah Iverson over the next year in programs like AMPED and youth ministry as Iverson transitions to a broader role inside the congregation.
“I am simply thrilled to be joining the Good Shepherd community,” said Mortensen. “I am excited to reconnect with the youth and families I’ve seen coming to camp the past few years and can’t wait to continue getting to know the folks who make up the community at Good Shepherd. I accept coffee shop recommendations, band suggestions, and neighborly hellos anytime, so don’t be a stranger.”
Mortensen was hired following a search conducted by the Youth and Family Committee at Good Shepherd over the summer. Mortensen is originally from the Milwaukee area and is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire, where she majored in organizational communications and double minored in Spanish and Religious Studies. She has worked at Crossways since graduating from college in 2016.
“My heart for ministry has always been there but really grew through religious studies courses, campus ministry experiences, and working for Crossways Camping Ministries,” said Mortensen. “I love spending time making music, reading, hiking, learning new skills, listening to podcasts, and connecting with others over a hot beverage.”
Welcome Becca to mission in ministry alongside our youth and families at Good Shepherd!
