Food, Faith and Farming Network Farmers Market comes to Verona Campus

One of the highlights of summer in Madison is our many opportunities to purchase produce right from the growers at the many farmers’ markets throughout the Madison area.  Did you know that the markets happen all winter too?

Good Shepherd, in conjunction with the Food, Faith, and Farming Network, will be hosting a farmers’ market on Sunday, February 10 at our Verona Campus, between and after the two morning services (9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.). In addition to shopping with the 6-8 vendors, plan to enjoy a brunch-style meal featuring locally-grown ingredients.

The Food, Faith, and Farming Network, founded in 1989 during the Farm Crisis, gives voice to the sacred connections between land and people. They foster rural and urban relationships and promote earth stewardship, community, spirituality and economic justice through healthy food and sustainable farming practices. They collaborate with individuals, organizations and faith communities that share their vision.

What They Do:

  • Link food, faith and farming through educational, spiritual and community building events
  • Bring a spiritual perspective to the conversation in addressing food and farming issues
  • Connect consumers and growers, urban and rural, through activities such as Winter Farmers’ Markets
  • Advocate for a just food system and food security for all
  • Promote a land ethic of stewardship and care for our common home–Earth.
  • Partner with Harvest of Hope Fund, serving Wisconsin farmers in crisis situations

So plan on coming out to the Verona Campus on Sunday, February 10 between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.,  buy some fresh produce and enjoy a delicious meal!
