Happy Retirement to Cynthia Stephan

Good Shepherd says goodbye to a talented music director and life-long friend.

Cynthia and John Stephan first joined Good Shepherd in 1980 only to leave when John received a job transfer to Dallas in 1986. They returned in 1990 and a few years later, Cynthia became pianist for Evensong under the musical direction of Dick Stransky. In February of 2002, due to the growth of our Verona Campus, Cynthia became the musical director of Joyful Harmony (Verona’s 9:00am worship band), a position she faithfully held for 18 years.  They are looking forward to be retired together, continuing to worship at Good Shepherd and spending full weekends at their cottage up north.

We had hoped to celebrate Cynthia’s work and ministry on Sunday, May 24. Due to our inability to be together during this pandemic, the celebration has been postponed; however, we hope to reschedule and celebrate at a later date. In the meantime, we virtually thank Cynthia for her many years of service to Good Shepherd and the current members of Joyful Harmony: Jim Cali, Greg Meyers, Tim Salawater, Rhonda Bohnhoff, Pam Gust, Karen Bakken, Kathryn Winch, and John Stephan (plus others throughout the years).

In light of Cynthia’s retirement, the Worship, Music and Arts Committee is currently working to fill a newly created Associate Director of Worship and Music position, which  will primarily oversee and direct the worship-life at our Verona Campus.
