Impactful Moment #19: Blue Christmas
For many, the holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, but for others, it can be a time of deep sadness and longing. At Good Shepherd, we understand that not everyone feels the festive spirit during this season, and that’s why we host our Blue Christmas service—a gentle, contemplative gathering for those carrying heavy hearts.
Held on December 19, this special service offered a quiet space for reflection and solace. It was designed for anyone facing grief, loss, or hardship, whether through the death of a loved one, the pain of divorce or separation, the loss of a job, illness, or any other burden that makes this time of year difficult.
The Blue Christmas service reminded attendees of the enduring hope found in the message: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot overcome it.” Through thoughtful prayers, meaningful music, and moments of quiet reflection, the gathering provided comfort and reminded all present that they are not alone in their struggles.
We are deeply grateful for the leaders and volunteers who created a welcoming and compassionate environment for this service. By providing a space for honesty and healing, Blue Christmas stands as a testament to the hope and light of Christ, even in life’s darkest moments.
