The joy of connecting through the written word comes to life in our Pen Pal program with third graders from Orchard Ridge Elementary School. This impactful initiative pairs Good Shepherd volunteers with students, creating a meaningful exchange of letters that fosters both learning and connection.
For the students, writing to their pen pals is an opportunity to practice and develop essential reading and writing skills in a fun and engaging way. With each letter, they gain confidence in expressing their thoughts, asking questions, and sharing stories. For our volunteers, it’s a chance to make a difference in a child’s life while experiencing the joy of building a unique and heartfelt relationship.
This program not only supports academic growth but also encourages a sense of belonging and community. Through these simple yet powerful exchanges, both students and pen pals discover the beauty of mutual encouragement and understanding.
We are grateful for all the volunteers who take part in this wonderful program, making a lasting impact in the lives of these young learners. Together, we’re building bridges of connection and showing the love of Christ in tangible and inspiring ways.
