Good Shepherd’s music ministry will continue without interruption during this interim season. We are grateful to welcome Katie Gerlach as Interim Choir Director, Don DeBruin as Interim Organist, and Wesley Swords and Rachel Bain as Interim Handbell Directors, with support from Joanne Dodge and Phyllis Wiederhoeft. We give thanks for their willingness to serve and for the continued gift of music in our worship life together.

Kathryn Gerlach

Kathryn (Katie) Gerlach is a lifelong Madison native and a 2004 graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music (vocal/piano emphasis) with a minor in Music Education. While at Luther, she was blessed to sing in the Nordic Choir under the direction of Weston Noble, an experience that shaped her faith and calling as a choir director and church musician.

Katie currently continues in her 21+ year position as the Cambridge High School Choir Director. She is grateful to have served as a Choir Director and Minister of Contemporary Music at Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison for equally as long. She is also currently in her second consecutive term as an Alto II State Honors Coach for the WSMA State Honors Treble Choir. Through teaching, directing, and accompanying, Katie seeks to use music as a way to create the gift human connection, glorify God, and lead others in their relationship with Christ

Katie lives in Cottage Grove with her husband, also a professional musician and educator, and their three beautiful children.  She is thankful for the joy of sharing music and faith together as a family.
