Learn about Thrivent Action Teams at Good Shepherd

Hello from Good Shepherd’s Thrivent Action Team Consultant!

Thrivent Action Teams are an exciting and easy way for you to make an impact on your favorite ministries. It’s not a gift or a grant. It’s seed money, and it’s an investment to help get your project started or gain awareness for your cause, rather than directly giving the money to (granting) or purchasing items for (gifting) your cause. Bring together a volunteer team of friends, family and people in your community to have a bigger impact. An example of an Action Team might be:

A fundraising activity at a restaurant to raise money for World Vision. If you’re running for Team World Vision this year, and are a Thrivent member, you could host it. If you’re not running, you could sponsor the event on behalf of someone running for the team. One of your two annual Action Teams could pay for food and drinks at the event and attendees can come learn about the organization and make donations that go directly to World Vision. You could raise much more than your $250 seed money AND educate people about this amazing ministry!

Starting in May, we’ll begin utilizing the “Thrivent” page on the Good Shepherd website (https://gslcwi.com/serve/thrivent/) to share opportunities to use your Action Teams and get involved in a ministry opportunity. We’ll also be updating you (including pictures) on recent Action Teams.

There are over three hundred Thrivent members who are also members of Good Shepherd. With each individual having access to two $250 Action Teams per year, the impact that we could make on ministry in Madison & Verona is extraordinary.

Requesting an Action Team is easy…I promise. As Good Shepherd’s Church Engagement Consultant, my job is to help teach you about Action Teams, teach you about requesting them and, if you want it, help to match you with the ministries you’re passionate about that could most use your help.

Email me anytime at stephanie.christensen@thrivent.com. I’d love to meet with interested individuals to talk more about Good Shepherd ministries or using an Action Team. You can also invite me to a meeting of your small group or coffee with you and friends that share the same passion.

I can’t wait to get started and begin seeing the amazing ministry we will do together. As Jesus told us in a recent Gospel, “Feed My Sheep”. So, let’s get started!
