Meet Kiana: Good Shepherd’s Summer Media Intern
Growing up in a small town in Illinois, I saw firsthand how crucial businesses are to a community. This realization sparked my desire to be part of a business that makes a real difference. Though I never expected to end up in Wisconsin, getting accepted into the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s College of Business felt like the perfect fit.
As a marketing student at UW-Whitewater, I’ve enjoyed learning about the intricacies of business. Since I hadn’t traveled much in Wisconsin before, I began driving to new cities. These explorations, especially my spontaneous trips, led me to discover Madison. Its vibrant atmosphere, welcoming people, and delicious food captivated me, solidifying my desire to build my career in Wisconsin.
Living in Whitewater further deepened my understanding of the impact of small businesses on the community. This inspired me to work at a local coffee shop, where I was delighted to see how it gave back to the community. This experience fueled my passion for contributing to community-focused businesses throughout my career.
While searching for internships, I came across the Summer Media Intern position at Good Shepherd and was immediately interested. Although I hadn’t worked in a faith-based environment for a while, researching Good Shepherd revealed how dedicated its members are to serving the community. I knew I had to be part of it. I’m truly excited to join Good Shepherd as their Summer Media Intern and learn how they serve the community. I can’t wait to meet everyone!
