Summer Scripture Challenge Week One
Week One | Psalm 23:1-3
Welcome to the start of a journey
You’re on this journey with dozens of other members from the Good Shepherd community who have said “yes” to being shaped by God’s word this Summer. Scripture shapes our imagination as we learn words, stories and images that help us know God and know ourselves and understand the world around us.
Take some time to slowly ready this week’s passage a few times.
What do you notice? What questions do you have?
Read the Passage
1The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
he leads me beside still waters; 3 he restores my soul.
He leads me in right paths for his name’s sake.
Psalm 23:13 (NRSVUE)
NEXT STEPS
Write it down
Studies have consistently shown that writing something down by hand helps with memorization and learning.
Take some time to slowly and thoughtfully write this week’s passage down and then place it in a place where you’ll see it often during the week.
NEXT STEPS
Pray the words
Another way to help the words of this passage stay with you is to use them to shape your prayers.
Take a moment to read the passage several times through slowly. What promptings do you notice? What questions does it bring up? What are you thankful for? Bring this all in prayer.
