What’s Wrong with the Church? It’s Us | Pastor Sheryl Erickson | September 6, 2026

As we settle back into the familiar rhythms of fall, we are also reminded that being the church together is holy work and sometimes hard work. In this week’s sermon from Matthew 18, we hear Jesus offer practical guidance for what to do when we sin against one another in community. Rather than avoiding conflict or venting to others, Jesus calls us toward something more courageous: going directly to the one who has wronged us, with the goal not of winning but of restoring the relationship. Reconciliation is at the heart of what it means to gather in Jesus’ name, and Jesus promises to be present with us in those difficult conversations just as much as in worship.
