2026 Youth Trip to Colorado – Day 2
August 2 Blog
My name is Mac and this fall I’ll be going into my junior year at Verona. We woke up early enough today so that we could get to sky ranch in time for Sammy to drive back down the mountains while it was still light out. Before we even got on the bus, Sarah told us that the breakfast nook is the best place to meet someone and learn their story. As we drove through Nebraska, Sarah encouraged us not to glance over the state as many do, and to instead think of how it’s someone’s home, and to see the beauty in its importance to others. Our drive went from terrain like Wisconsin, to a much drier looking plains terrain, until eventually we saw the mountains. The last 45 minutes were extreme. Luckily, I was asleep. We got to the camp, unloaded the bus, and met some of the lovely staff. We had dinner and free time, before we met back together to worship and share our “I am from” mad lib poems we did on the bus.
